These beautiful Origami boxes are a great alternative to wrapping paper! Try one yourself.

Step

Step 1

Fold one of the top tips of the A4 paper inward to meet the adjacent edge.
Step

Step 2

Using the bottom of the folded section as a guide, cut the page to make a square.
Step

Step 3

Open the square, and fold in half to create a rectangle shape. Open to a square and fold the page again so that you now have a horizontal and vertical fold on the piece of paper.
Step

Step 4

Open the paper to a square once again. Turn the paper over to the other side, and fold in half to create a triangle shape. Open and fold once again so that now you have two diagonal folds on the paper.
Step

Step 5

Open the paper to a square shape once again. Fold one of the corners inward to the centre of the square.
Step

Step 6

Repeat step 5 with the remaining corners.
Step

Step 7

Fold each of the corners in the centre outward so that they touch the outer edge of the square.
Step

Step 8

Fold the tips back into the centre and unfold two opposite corners completely.
Step

Step 9

Fold each of the edges that are already folded inward in half once again, so they meet in the centre. Unfold these partially - these will form two of the walls of your box.
Step

Step 10

Using the folds already in place, lift one of the unfolded ends of the paper up and inward. The paper should fold over the existing walls of the box.
Step

Step 11

Tuck the tip of the paper into the centre of the box. Repeat these steps with the opposite edge to create the final wall of the box.
Step

Step 12

As the finishing touch, fold the inner edges from the centre of the paper outward to expose the other side of the coloured paper. You now have a beautiful origami box! Repeat these steps using a slightly smaller piece of paper to create another box that will fit inside to create a lid.
