This crafty IDEA is a fantastic way to get children to practise their fine motor and scissor skills. Smaller children can also work on their shape recognition. Try this out with a group or your class and see what cute creations they fetch for you!
You will need:
- Micador Essential Pencil
- early stART Safety Scissors
- Micador Create it Art Pad – Two colour magic
- early stART Glue Stick
Step 1: Time to trace!
Grab some circular objects (large, medium and small sizes – think coasters, mugs, drinking glasses) and trace circle shapes onto your paper.
Step 2: Cut them out!
Cut your circles from the paper. You will need 3 large black circles (1 cut in half for the ears), 1 large white circle, 1 medium black circle, 2 white medium circles, 1 red medium circle (cut in half for the mouth) and 2 small black circles.
Step 3: Design your dog!
Paste your pieces together to form your dog shape.

Step 4: Practice make PAW-fect!
Have the children create more than one and see what funny expressions they can create by adjusting the circle pieces.
