What media does this work on?

Graphite, charcoal, chalk, pastel, and some coloured pencil. Not suited to ink or wet media.

Does it leave crumbs on the paper?

No. It absorbs particles into its mass rather than abrading the surface, so there's nothing to brush away.

How do I maintain it?

Knead it after each session to redistribute absorbed particles. Replace when it becomes too stiff or saturated to lift marks effectively.
