Honeypot Ants like to live in dry environments, and can be found in the Australian Outback.

They store nectar in their bellies that helps to feed the rest of the colony when food sources are low. Once their stomachs expand, they don't move around as much and hang from the roof of their underground nests.

Follow the steps below to create your own honeypot ants and nest. You could even grab a few flowers from the garden for them to feed on!

Get your supplies!

You will need:

  • Chunky Stampers, Pack 5 early stART

  • Dough

  • Paper

  • Scissors

Step 1

Use the black early stART Chunky Stampers to stamp some ants onto a piece of white paper. Make about 8.

Step 2

Cut out each ant and turn them into honeypot ants by adding an orange circle sticker from the Imagination Paper pad.

Step 3

Roll out a piece of First Dough. Press one side down onto a sheet of paper and mould the top into a cave-like shape to create an ants nest.

Step 4

Attach your honeypot ants to the roof of the nest and let your worker ants keep roaming for food outside! You can decorate your nest with twigs and leaves from the garden.
